Dr. Aaron Shaw

Biography

Aaron Shaw studies collaboration, governance, and inclusion in participatory organizations. His work focuses on online communities that create public information resources such as Wikipedia. He is an Associate Professor at Northwestern University in the School of Communication, with courtesy appointments in Sociology. He is affiliated with the Center for Human-Computer Interaction and Design, the Institute for Policy Research, and the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs. Shaw is a Faculty Associate at the Berkman-Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University and co-founder of the Community Data Science Collective. He held a fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University and served as a Scholar in Residence in King County, Washington, during the 2022-2023 academic year. His research has received recognition from several scholarly associations, including the American Sociological Association and the Association for Computing Machinery.
