Abel Diaz Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Organization, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University. He holds a PhD in Business Economics from Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB). His research primarily focuses on the ecosystems of social entrepreneurs and the supportive mechanisms involved. Abel has extensive field research and teaching experience across Latin America (including Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Suriname, and Colombia), Europe, and Africa (spanning Congo, Uganda, Morocco, and Tunisia). He is currently a member of the board for various international associations, serving as Conference Chair for the New Business Models conference in 2023, elected Conference Chair for the International Association of Business Society in 2025, and co-founder/co-organizer of the Social Entrepreneurship Summit. Abel also takes on roles as an associate editor for Business Society Review and has contributed as a reviewer for conferences and academic journals. Additionally, he is involved in coordinating several courses related to Social Sustainable Entrepreneurship and supervises master's thesis projects as well as Business Consulting Projects for MBA students through UMIO.
