Biography

Adela Kincaid is an Assistant Professor (Teaching) in International Indigenous Studies at the University of Calgary. She holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Calgary, obtained in 2015, alongside an MSc in Environmental Science, a BEd in Education, and a BA in Social Science from the University of Lethbridge. Kincaid is dedicated to community-based research and experiential learning, focusing on animal-human relations and the participation of universities in strategic initiatives. She is committed to engaging undergraduate students with practical research projects that benefit local communities and foster partnerships with organizations engaged in similar objectives. Kincaid’s recent work includes collaborations with the Alberta Institute of Wildlife Conservation to support birds affected by climate change, and initiatives led by the Îyâxe-Nakoda community focusing on water sustainability. Additionally, she is involved in projects developing educational resources that highlight regenerative practices.
