Biography

Adeoye Adeyemo is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois, specializing in Education Policy and Organization Leadership. He obtained his B.S. in Finance and M.A. in Education from the University of Illinois, followed by a Ph.D. in Social Foundations of Education from the University of Georgia. Adeyemo's research focuses on the experiences of Black adolescents in sports, particularly how neighborhood and cultural influences shape their aspirations and perceptions of athletics and academics. He has presented his work at numerous conferences, including the American Sociological Association and the American Educational Research Association. His future research intends to explore the experiences of female student athletes and the implications of participation in sports on mental health. Adeyemo is dedicated to addressing issues faced by urban communities and leveraging his own lived experiences to positively influence Black youth.
