Aditi Verma joined the Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences (NERS) department in Fall 2021 as an Assistant Research Scientist and became an Assistant Professor in Fall 2022. She is also a Faculty Associate in the Fastest Path Zero Initiative. Prior to U-M, Verma was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, where she was involved in the Managing the Atom project and served as a Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow. Verma's research interests lie in nuclear technologies and the design processes associated with them, specifically focusing on how complex technologies can be developed in equitable and participatory ways that include diverse perspectives. She aims to enhance the understanding of design processes to improve engineering practice and pedagogy. Verma's previous appointments include working with the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency in Paris and the International Atomic Energy Agency, among others, where she bridged the humanities and social sciences with the technical aspects of nuclear engineering. She has been recognized with several honors, including being named to the American Nuclear Society's 40 Under 40 List in 2024 and receiving the Stanton Nuclear Security Fellowship from the Belfer Center.
