Professor Dr. Adnan Custovic

Biography

Adnan Custovic leads the Paediatric Allergy Group at Imperial College London’s National Heart & Lung Institute, where he also serves as an Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Allergy at St. Mary’s Hospital. He has established the Frankland-Kay Centre for Allergy and serves as its Director. A past Professor of Allergy at the University of Manchester until September 2015, he has contributed significantly to the field of asthma and allergy epidemiology, emphasizing prevention from a life-course perspective. His research has influenced national and international guidelines on asthma management and food allergy diagnostics, particularly through pioneering work in data-driven methodologies and the application of machine learning. Custovic has been pivotal in multidisciplinary initiatives like the MRC-funded STELAR and UNICORN consortia and leads a programme on early detection of respiratory diseases through life-course analysis. His achievements have earned him numerous accolades, including election as a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He has supervised 23 PhD/MD students and contributed extensively to academic publications and advisory boards.
