Alec Pearson is currently a sessional instructor of guitar at the University of British Columbia. He has performed solo and in ensembles across Canada, Spain, Colombia, Greece, and the U.S. In addition to his teaching roles, Alec serves as the president of the Vancouver Classic Guitar Society, where he organizes concerts, lectures, masterclasses, and social events. He holds a Master's degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Universitat d'Alacant in Alicante, Spain, where he studied with renowned guitarists such as David Russell and Pepe Romero. Prior to his studies in Spain, Alec earned a Master's degree at the University of British Columbia under the mentorship of Daniel Bolshoy. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Montreal in 2012. Born and raised in Calgary, Alec started his musical journey with guitar lessons from Jose Fermin and became an active performer in the Classical Guitar Society of Calgary. At age 17, he began teaching guitar, and in 2016 he formed Trio 211 with flute player Bernard Blary and violinist Larisa Lebeda, performing a wide range of repertoire throughout western Canada. The trio has also enabled Alec to compose original works, balancing teaching and musical endeavors.
