Biography

Alex Krouglov holds degrees in Translation, Interpreting, and Sociolinguistics, and has undergone post-doctoral training focused on research at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES). He has worked within Higher Education as an expert, translator, interpreter, editor, lecturer, assessor, adviser, supervisor, and project coordinator for numerous universities and international organizations, including the United Nations, UNDP, World Bank, International Criminal Court, British Council, and various EU agencies. Krouglov joined SSEES in 2017 after serving for ten years at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where he worked as the Head of Russian and Slavonic Languages and was later appointed Assistant Director of Diplomatic Language Training, focusing on training interpreters and translators for British diplomatic staff. He currently teaches at SSEES and conducts research in Higher Education, Sociolinguistics, Language Policy and Planning, particularly concerning Ukrainian and Russian, as well as Translation and Interpreting.
