Dr. Alex Lefter

Biography

Alex Lefter holds a PhD in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, he worked at various academic institutions across the United States, Europe, and Canada. His research interests include the work-nonwork interface, emotional labor and workplace interactions, unemployment dynamics and unemployment insurance, and the gender pay gap. He has received funding for his research from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and has published in notable journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, and the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. Over the years, Lefter has taught a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, covering topics such as compensation and benefits, labor relations and collective bargaining, recruitment and selection, human resources management, organizational behavior, labor market analysis, managerial economics, personnel economics, management research methods, business statistics, and applied econometrics.
