Ali Arya is an Associate Professor in the School of Information Technology at Carleton University, specializing in Interactive Multimedia. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic, Iran, and earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Canada. With extensive industry experience as a software engineer and project manager, Ali has also held various research and teaching positions in academic institutions since 2006. His research interests span Human-Computer Interaction, Educational Technologies, Computer Games and Virtual Worlds, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics and Animation, and Digital Art. Ali’s work has received funding from prominent organizations including the National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). As the Associate Director of Graduate Studies, he plays a key role in designing new Ph.D. and Master’s programs in Digital Media. Ali actively engages students through events like Global Game Jam and the Creative Jam and is a senior member of IEEE, and a member of ACM. He is also part of the editorial board and technical program committees for various conferences and journals in his fields of expertise.
