Dr. Ali Arya

Biography

Ali Arya is an Associate Professor at the School of Information Technology, Carleton University, specializing in Interactive Multimedia. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Tehran Polytechnic, Iran. With years of experience as a software engineer and project manager, he has committed himself to research and teaching in academic institutions since 2006. His research interests encompass Human-Computer Interaction, Educational Technologies, Computer Games and Virtual Worlds, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics and Animation, and Digital Art. Funded by the National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), his work also involves collaborations with industrial partners. Ali plays a key role in designing new Ph.D. and Master’s programs in Digital Media and organizes various events for students, including the Global Game Jam. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM, actively engaging in editorial and technical committee roles for several journals and conferences. His research focuses on enhancing user modeling and personalization in educational settings using augmented and virtual reality technologies.
