Biography

Ali H. Sayed is the Dean of Engineering at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), leading the Adaptive Systems Laboratory. He previously served as a Distinguished Professor and Chairman of Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher, he is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the World Academy of Sciences. Sayed served as the President of the IEEE Signal Processing Society from 2018 to 2019. He is an author/co-author of 570 scholarly publications and six books, with research that focuses on adaptation learning theories, data network sciences, statistical inference, and multiagent systems. His work has garnered significant recognition, including the 2022 IEEE Fourier Award and the 2020 Norbert Wiener Society Award. He has also received numerous honors such as the Education Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society, the Papoulis Award from the European Association for Signal Processing, and the Meritorious Service Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society. Sayed's publications have received multiple Paper Awards from IEEE and EURASIP.
