Dr. Allison Platt

Biography

Allison Platt is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies and Multimedia at McMaster University. As a media artist, her work encompasses various forms including videotapes, films, photographs (both analog and digital), websites, performances, sculptures, and installations. Platt's artistic practice and research focus on media arts, visual digital culture, and visual literacy, contributing significantly to the fields of visual theory and culture. She has previously held an Assistant Professorship in Visual Arts at Rutgers University from 1997 to 2002. Platt is represented by MKG127 in Toronto. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, San Diego and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut. Additionally, she completed postgraduate training at the Whitney Independent Study Program at the Whitney Museum of Art.
