Biography

Allison Witt is the Director of International Programs at the College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She teaches in the Global Studies in Education graduate program and leads the International Education Administration Leadership program. With over 20 years of experience in international education, her work has focused on internationalizing teacher education. Witt holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has contributed to state higher education policy through her role as Assistant Director of Academic Affairs at the Illinois Board of Higher Education. She authored the book 'Shifting Tides: Global Higher Education' published by Peter Lang in 2011. Her research interests include the intersection of state and national education policy, particularly regarding teacher preparation and the impact of interventions designed to prepare globally competent teachers. Her courses include topics such as Globalization in Higher Education and Researching Education in a Global Context, and she has developed an Education Abroad course that facilitates students' international learning experiences.
