Biography

Alon Eisenstein is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in Technology Entrepreneurship at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan’s School of Engineering. His professional background includes expertise in engineering education, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. Dr. Eisenstein joined UBC in 2021, where he has focused on integrating experiential learning methodologies in his teaching. He has developed and taught several courses including Technical Communication, Technology Entrepreneurship, and Engineering Capstone Design Project. Dr. Eisenstein is actively involved in research related to Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) with a focus on entrepreneurship education, assessment strategies, and students' motivations. He has published papers and chapters on Entrepreneurial Work-Integrated Learning (EWIL) and has hosted national symposiums on the subject. Beyond academia, he serves on the board of the Association for Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning BC/Yukon and is a fellow of UBC Okanagan’s Centre for Teaching and Learning. His commitment also extends to EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) initiatives within the Engineering School. In 2024, Dr. Eisenstein will hold the Marshall Bauder Chair in Experiential Learning Leadership, collaborating with UBC Vancouver to enhance digital experiential learning for students across campuses.
