Biography

Amanda Fancourt is a Senior Lecturer in Professional Legal Education at King's College London. She joined the Professional Law Institute, part of the Dickson Poon School of Law, in November 2021, where she is responsible for the development and delivery of the MSc/PG Dip Law Professional Practice. As a module leader, she oversees MSc Year 2 modules such as Business Practice and Company Financing. Prior to this, from 2008 to 2021, Amanda served as the Programme Director for the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and was a senior personal tutor at City, University of London Law School, where she taught Business Law and Drafting Equity Finance. With experience as a vocational education developer at the UK Centre for Legal Education, University of Warwick, and as a qualified solicitor, Amanda has contributed to legal education for many years. She has also spoken at national and international legal education conferences on topics like legal skills and student transitions. Currently, she holds the position of Chief Examiner for the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and serves as an external examiner for LLB and LLM programmes at Oxford Brookes University and the University of Northumbria. A member of the Association of Law Teachers, she has held roles such as past Chair and Honorary Secretary, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Amanda’s research interests primarily focus on corporate governance, student support, and managing student transitions.
