Biography

Montreal-born artist with multicultural roots, Amanda Mabro is a critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter, vocalist, and voice teacher. Her career spans 20 years, during which she has become known for powerful, genre-bending, and engaging performances that have excited international audiences at venues such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Brussels Opera House, and OSHEAGA. She has shared stages with renowned artists including Celine Dion, Arcade Fire, and Franz Ferdinand, and has collaborated in production and songwriting with Canadian icon Ron Sexsmith and Juno-winning producers Rob Szabo and Tim Abraham. Recently, her work in pop music includes lending her voice to countless studio sessions, including those with the Electro-Alternative duo 30 Frames. As a voice teacher, Amanda has coached numerous emerging, award-winning singer-songwriters, actors, and comedians, collaborating with research fellows and colleagues in her field, as well as working alongside speech pathologists, music therapists, and yogis. With a high demand for her teaching, Amanda splits her time between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, coaching international students both in person and online. Her studio, workshops, master classes, and private lessons act as a guide to students, helping them tune their senses, find their free real voice, and nurture their creative spirit while preventing vocal injuries. Described as a rare teacher with a deep understanding of the physiology and mechanics of the voice, she possesses finely tuned sensitivity to her student’s needs and has the ability to communicate instructions with clarity and precision. Amanda is consistent in creating a relaxed learning environment where students feel vulnerable and receive constructive feedback thoughtfully.
