Dr. Amy Nichols

Biography

Amy Nichols is the Associate Dean of Academics and a Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. In her role, she oversees the school’s graduate-degree programs and collaborates on curriculum changes while enhancing faculty inclusion plans. Nichols specializes in maternal-child health, evidence-based practice, and teaches courses designed to improve healthcare quality and prepare students for clinical practice. With expertise in simulation pedagogy and leadership, she has a wealth of experience in nurturing the next generation of nursing leaders. Nichols previously served as the Director of Clinical Simulation and has an extensive academic career, having taught at San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco. She has held pivotal roles, including nursing director at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, where she led the Center for Nursing Excellence. Nichols has earned multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist from UCSF, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Francisco. She is a fellow of the Academy of Nursing Education and has published widely in various nursing and medical journals.
