Biography

Anderson Oliveira is an Associate Professor in the field of Biomechanics at Aalborg University. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Aalborg University, which he completed in 2013. Following his doctoral research, he engaged in postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan from 2014 to 2015. His research focuses on the integration of neurophysiology and biomechanics, employing artificial intelligence to study human movement and brain-body interactions in health and disease contexts. Dr. Oliveira has made significant contributions to the understanding of motor unit behavior and cortical activity via electroencephalography (EEG) and high-density electromyography (HD-EMG) technologies. His projects cover areas such as cognitive-motor control, neuroplasticity, rehabilitation, and practical applications for conditions like Parkinson’s disease and diabetes. Over the years, he has led or co-led ten funded projects both in Denmark and internationally, securing over €2.8 million in competitive funding, including the DFF-Project 2 grant in 2025 and a NIH postdoctoral fellowship in 2014. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed articles, achieving an h-index of 29 with over 2400 citations. Additionally, Dr. Oliveira serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Human Neuroscience and actively collaborates with research centers across Europe and the Americas while supervising graduate students in Denmark, Brazil, and Italy.
