Andrea joined the Centre for Education in September 2024 as a Reader in Education Innovation Research. Her role focuses on supporting staff within the Faculty on current educational innovation research projects, working collaboratively with staff and students to develop new ideas that align with King’s College London’s strategic intention to achieve parity in educational research excellence. Andrea has a professional background in nursing and previously worked at the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care at KCL as Associate Dean for Assessment and Teaching. She holds a Doctorate in Education from University College London. Andrea's research interests focus on assessment and feedback in higher education, particularly interventions to reduce the awarding gap. She has led several collaborative projects in London to develop innovative solutions to increase placement opportunities for students. Recently, Andrea developed a student advocate role to support students at risk of leaving healthcare programmes which won a London Higher Award in 2024 for outstanding support in student wellbeing. Her publications include various works exploring the impact of feedback literacy on student attainment and the development of critical reading skills among nursing students.
