Professor Andrea Streit studied Biology at the University of Cologne and obtained her PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. She trained as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Turku in Finland, the University of Oxford in the UK, and Columbia University in New York. Professor Streit joined King’s College London in 2000, where her research group focuses on the development of vertebrate sense organs. Her primary interest is to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control cell fate decisions in the sensory nervous system, using this knowledge to promote regeneration and repair. Through multidisciplinary approaches, her group studies the signaling and transcription factor networks that control sensory stem cells to generate specialized cell types in complex sense organs. Additionally, Professor Streit’s group explores the epigenetic mechanisms that control inner ear development and the regeneration of sensory cells crucial for sound and balance perception. She is actively involved in mentoring PhD students and junior faculty members, and held leadership roles within the Faculty, including Dean of Research and Head of the Centre for Craniofacial & Regenerative Biology.
Requirements are consistent across King's Business School and Social Science & Public Policy departments for standard Master's entries.
