Dr. Andrew Campbell

Biography

Andrew Campbell is a prominent figure in sustainable agriculture research management in Australia, having played influential roles for thirty years. He served as the Chief Executive of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and has held the position of Managing Director at Triple Helix Consulting. In 2016, he was appointed as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and has made significant contributions as Australia's National Landcare Facilitator and CEO of Land & Water Australia from 2000. Campbell is recognized as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and a Professorial Fellow at the Australian National University’s Fenner School. He has also contributed to various boards, including as a non-executive Director for AgriFutures Australia. His extensive experience extends to international roles, including representing Australia at the CGIAR System Council. Campbell has engaged in landcare work for decades and has been involved in academic training in forestry and agricultural knowledge systems at Creswick University and Wageningen University. His research interests focus on the interplay of climate, water, and energy in food security, governance in collaborative research, and the complexities of environmental policy related to agricultural practices.
