Biography

Andrii Smytsniuk holds a degree in pedagogical methodology from Ivan Franko National University of L'viv, specializing in teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. He has taught at the Ukrainian Catholic University in L'viv and has also been a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. Andrii has been actively involved with the Reform Support Team at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, consulting on education reform, development, and teaching standards, particularly in the area of language instruction. In 2020, he participated in the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute, where he was awarded the Theodosius Irene Senkowsky Prize for Achievement in Ukrainian Studies. Currently, he serves as Chair of the volunteer initiative Cambridge4Ukraine, which supports Ukrainian initiatives. His teaching interests include the use of technology in language instruction. His research interests encompass the interplay of language and identity, orthography, linguistic policy, and language teaching policy.
