Biography

Andy Hoffman is the Holcim (US) Professor of Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan, with joint appointments at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and the School for Environment and Sustainability. His research utilizes organizational behavior models to understand the cultural and institutional aspects of environmental issues within organizations. Hoffman has published over 100 articles and book chapters, along with 18 books translated into five languages. His work focuses on the processes through which environmental issues emerge and evolve, exploring the interplay between social, political, and managerial factors. He analyzes the evolving nature of field-level pressures related to environmental issues, particularly corporate responses to these pressures, especially around climate change. He is interested in the role of interconnected networks among non-governmental organizations and corporations in influencing change processes within cultural and institutional systems, as well as the social psychological barriers that affect these change processes.
