Angela Schroeder is a Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Alberta. She serves as the Director of Bands and Area Coordinator for Winds and Percussion, overseeing various instrumental ensembles including the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Summer Band. Angela teaches undergraduate courses in wind band education and conducting and works closely with graduate students in instrumental conducting. Prior to her current role, she taught conducting at the University of North Texas. Angela conducts the St. Albert Community Band, which is currently in its 48th concert season and has completed tours performing in Austria and Germany. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Calgary, a Master of Music in Conducting from Northwestern University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Band Conducting from the University of North Texas. In addition to her teaching, Angela has been involved with community music organizations and served as executive director of the Alberta Band Association. She has also performed as the Principal Trumpet with the Mill Creek Colliery Band and Concordia University Orchestra. Over the years, Angela has guest conducted and adjudicated numerous wind bands across Canada, the United States, and abroad. She has contributed to the Teaching Music Performance Band series published by GIA, which focuses on wind literature for instrumental instruction. Outside of her professional life, Angela is joyfully married and is a mother to two sons.
