Dr. Angharad Butler Rees

Biography

Angharad Butler-Rees is an Assistant Professor of Inclusive Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. She obtained her PhD from the University of Southampton in 2020 and holds a BA Hons from Durham University, awarded in 2016. Her primary research interests encompass inclusive equitable education, educational transitions, and the implications of disability and socio-economic disadvantage on educational outcomes. Prior to her current role, she worked as a Research Fellow in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham and the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick, focusing on projects related to the educational pathways and outcomes of disabled young people in England. Angharad has also been involved with the Centre for Research on Inclusion at the University of Southampton and has engaged in various roles within the charity sector, enhancing her practical understanding of the challenges facing disabled individuals. Her affiliations include the Higher Education Academy and active participation in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board at Oxford, Cambridge RSA Examinations. With a rich background in research and teaching, Angharad is committed to improving educational experiences for all students, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds.
