Dr. Anil Chacko

Biography

Anil Chacko is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology at NYU Steinhardt with a focus on clinical psychology. His research emphasizes the development and implementation of engaging and sustainable prevention and intervention service delivery models for at-risk youth affected by disruptive behavior disorders, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and oppositional defiant disorder. Chacko's work aims to enhance the efficacy of evidence-based psychosocial interventions, contributing to both academic knowledge and clinical practices. He is actively involved with the Families and Children Experiencing Success (FACES) Lab, where he works in collaboration with community service providers to improve intervention engagement and effectiveness. His educational programs equip students with the clinical and counseling skills necessary for careers in various settings, including community agencies, clinics, schools, and private practices. He supervises advanced clinical practicum for students, fostering their practical skills through therapy, assessment services, and individual and group supervision.
