Dr. Anjali Rao

Biography

Anjali Rao, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. With over 20 years of experience in general pediatrics, Dr. Rao has subspecialized in developmental-behavioral pediatrics. Her clinical interests focus on the developmental milestones of children, particularly the transition from typical development to developmental delays. She employs a whole-family approach to care, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with caregivers to promote active parenting strategies. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Rao is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), where she serves on the executive board of the Council on School Health and is a member of the AAP section on Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics. She has also contributed as a co-chair for the national Autism Special Interest Group under the Association of University Centers on Disabilities. Dr. Rao has been recognized as a scholar at the Society for Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Research Symposium and is a fellow of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders (LEND) program. Her research interests include developing scalable models to promote access to care, increasing healthcare capacity, and strengthening the workforce in developmental pediatrics education.
