Biography

Ann Evans Watson is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Music Department at the University of Michigan, specializing in Musical Theatre. With a rich background as an Equity actor and vocal instructor, she focuses on training professional voices and has extensive experience teaching and conducting master classes across the U.S. Since the inception of the Musical Theatre Department at the Washington Academy of Performing Arts in 1998, she has been instrumental in developing curriculum and mentoring students to success in top universities and professional stages. Notable alumni include Tony Nominees and actors in productions such as The Lion King and Hamilton. Evans Watson has also performed on prestigious stages like Lincoln Center and Don’t Tell Mama. She authored "The Belt Book," a leading resource for singers exploring musical theatre literature, and contributes to notable publications such as NATS Journal of Singing. As a prolific presenter at national conferences, she shares her expertise in vocal training and the college audition process. Additionally, Evans Watson is passionate about cross-training in acting and dance and engages in various artistic productions.
