Biography

Ann Woodworth worked professionally as an actress, director, and teaching consultant, conducting numerous presentations and workshops on the Classroom Stage. She has thirty-five years of experience teaching acting, mime, and movement, including invitations to work with Teatro Cadafe and La Compania Nacional in Caracas, Venezuela, as well as the British/American Drama Academy in England. Woodworth has taught for seven summers to English artists such as Ben Kingsley, Jeremy Irons, Vanessa Redgrave, Alan Rickman, and members of the Berliner Ensemble and Moscow Art Theatre. In 1989, she established a directing collaboration with movement director Dawn Mora, integrating movement techniques with original musical composition and a physical approach to classical texts, including 'Medea', 'Iphigenia in Aulis', 'Hecuba', 'Hamlet', 'King Lear', 'Uncle Vanya', and 'The Seagull'. She is a founding member of Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble and has received numerous teaching awards, including the Charles Deering McCormick Professorship of Teaching Excellence. Woodworth's book, 'ACTING: Study of Life', is currently under contract with Cengage Learning.
