Dr. Anna Gadd

Biography

Anna Gadd is a lecturer at the University of Western Australia, specializing in European Languages and Cultures. With a focus on Translation Studies and Language Teaching, she coordinates undergraduate courses, including the Master of Translation Studies and Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies. Since the inception of these programs in 2014, she has played a critical role in developing the curriculum, including the introduction of languages such as Portuguese and Arabic. Anna is known for her innovative, research-driven teaching approach, fostering connections between students and the wider community through collaboration with both national and international universities. She actively participates in translating Indigenous Australian Literature and engages in research on various topics, including children's literature and the integration of wellbeing resources in language courses. Additionally, her involvement in professional development includes delivering Masterclasses and working on publications aimed at improving language instruction, particularly for Gen Z learners. Anna's scholarly contributions have been recognized through multiple awards, including the Excellence Teaching Award at UWA and a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. Her h-index stands at 17, demonstrating her impactful presence in the academic community. Anna is also a certified NAATI translator and invests time in both teaching and practical translation work.
