Biography

Originally from Poland, Anna Szpilberg has concertized throughout Europe and North America, performing solo recitals as well as collaborating with chamber music ensembles and orchestras. She has served as a guest artist on tours with members of the Fine Arts Quartet and participated in joint recitals with prominent violinists such as Marie Anick Nicolas and Vladimir Landsman. Her career highlights include being a guest soloist at the Gina Bachauer International Competition and Festival, participating in solo tours in Poland, and having her performance recorded by Polish National Radio. Szpilberg co-founded and currently serves as the Associate Director for the International Music Session in Grenoble, France. She has been involved in teaching chamber music, conducting master classes, and performing solo concerts and chamber works with distinguished artists from 13 countries across Europe and North America. Szpilberg holds a Diploma in Piano Performance from the State School of Music in Warsaw, a Bachelor of Music with Distinction from McGill University, and a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Music Performance Studies from Concordia University, alongside her PhD. Her doctoral thesis focused on the creation of a musical experience through expressively directed micro-timing in a pianist's signature voice. She has received numerous awards including the Canada Council Artist Award and FCAR Doctoral Fellowship. She is a long-term member of the Concordia undergraduate and graduate music programs, where she has guided graduate students who have gone on to achieve success in international piano competitions.
