Biography

Anna Wilson joined the University of Glasgow as a Reader in Interdisciplinary Research in Education in May 2022. She has held various positions as a physicist, academic developer, and researcher in Human-Computer Interaction and social sciences. In August 2024, she became the Director of the Centre for Research Development in Adult Lifelong Learning. Anna began her academic career as a nuclear structure physicist, completing her PhD in Nuclear Physics at the University of Liverpool in 1996. Her initial research focused on superdeformed states in the mass-190 region using gamma-ray spectroscopy before shifting her interests to education. She completed a Graduate Certificate and a Master's in Higher Education and contributed to the Australian National University’s Centre for Educational Development and Academic Methods. Her research emphasizes complex knowledge and sustainability challenges within adult lifelong learning and the technologization of work and life. Anna is also interested in developing new research methods and engaging students in alternative narratives related to learning and teaching.
