Anne Whiston Spirn is the Cecil Ida Green Distinguished Professor of Landscape Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has significantly contributed to the field of ecological urbanism, particularly through her influential book, 'Granite Garden: Urban Nature Human Design' (1984), which was recognized as one of the 100 important books of the 20th century by the American Planning Association.
