Dr. Anthony Reddie

Biography

Anthony G. Reddie is a prominent scholar in Black theology and serves as the Director of the Centre for Black Theology at Regent's Park College, University of Oxford. He holds a doctorate in Practical Theology from the University of Birmingham under the guidance of Professor John Hull. His research integrates classical and systematic approaches to Black theology, aiming to interface with decolonial and transformative education to foster conscientization and empowerment. Reddie has authored numerous books and articles, with notable titles including 'Theologising Brexit: Liberationist Postcolonial Critique' and 'Is God Colour-Blind? Insights from Black Theology for Christian Faith and Ministry.' He is recognized as a leading international researcher by the South African National Research Foundation and has received the Archbishop of Canterbury's 2020 Lanfranc Award for his exceptional contributions to Black theology in Britain. His ongoing research projects include leading a consultancy-funded initiative with the Council for World Mission, focused on the legacies of slavery and its implications for Christian mission. Reddie also serves as the editor-in-chief of 'Black Theology: An International Journal.'
