Dr. Anthony Robinson

Biography

Anthony C. Robinson is a Professor of Geography at Penn State University, where he also directs the Online Geospatial Education Programs. His leadership includes overseeing Penn State's Master of GIS and Master of Spatial Data Science programs in collaboration with the John A. Dutton e-Education Institute. Robinson serves as Chair of the Cartography & Mapping Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers and has held the position of Vice Chair of the International Cartographic Association's Commission on Geovisualization. His research broadly focuses on the design and evaluation of geovisualization tools to enhance the utility and usability of geographic information. Key areas of his research work include ecology, epidemiology, crisis management, national security, and higher education. He has developed new ecological decision support systems and explored user interaction with visualization tools through eye-tracking studies. Robinson taught Penn State’s Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), attracting 150,000 students from 190 countries, and is actively seeking graduate students interested in related topics.
