Dr. Audrey Yoon

Biography

Dr. Yoon is a double board-certified sleep specialist and a Clinical Professor in the Division of Sleep Medicine at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. She has extensive experience in orthodontics, diagnosing and treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children and adults. Dr. Yoon specializes in both surgical and non-surgical OSA treatments, including miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion (MARPE) and maxillomandibular advancement (MMA). Her research interests focus on modifying head and face growth to improve sleep-disordered breathing in children and developing customized appliances to reshape the bones of the mouth, jaw, and face over time. She has contributed to the development of a new distraction osteogenesis maxillary expansion (DOME) technique and has proposed a surgery-first approach to OSA treatment, which reduces the duration of orthodontic treatment for patients. Dr. Yoon has published in various peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work internationally. She is a founding co-president of the World Dentofacial Sleep Society and has established clinics at both Stanford University and the University of the Pacific. Dr. Yoon is also involved in leadership positions within several professional organizations.
