Biography

August John Campbell is an Instructional Professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. He holds an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Texas State University, completed in 2005, and a B.S. in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University, obtained in 1997. John joined the Physical Education Activity Program at Texas A&M University in 2007 as a Lecturer and progressed to Instructional Assistant Professor in 2009, becoming an Instructional Associate Professor in 2018. He teaches a variety of undergraduate courses, focusing on physical education activity and core science classes. Additionally, he offers Coaching Minor courses and participates in initiatives like the Thornton-McFerrin Coaching Academy. Beyond classroom responsibilities, John has been active in university governance, serving on multiple committees such as the Faculty Senate, Core Curriculum Committee, and Honor Council. He is also involved in the local Texas Association of Sports Officials, working with football and softball boards. John has contributed to youth sports coaching and has held leadership positions such as Chair of the Deerfoot Advisory Committee.
