Biography

Ave Maria Lachiewicz is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pediatrics at Duke University. She addresses children's developmental concerns, including ADHD, autism, apraxia, and fragile X syndrome. Dr. Lachiewicz earned her M.D. from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1980. She has received several grants from the National Fragile X Foundation and the National Institutes of Health to support her research in these areas. Her previous appointments include roles as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Pediatrics. Dr. Lachiewicz's work is dedicated to improving our understanding of genetic and environmental factors impacting child development and addressing the unique needs of children with developmental disabilities.
