Biography

Avir Mitra, MD is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He has extensive experience in emergency medicine, focusing on managing chronic conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Dr. Mitra was part of an NIH-funded study investigating home-based tele-rehabilitation for COPD patients presenting to the emergency department. Dr. Mitra received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and completed his medical education at Drexel University College of Medicine, where he served as student body president. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in 2018. Dr. Mitra is passionate about sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for health and medicine with residents, students, and the public.
