Ayse Sunar studied mathematics for her bachelor's degree at Gazi University in Ankara. She pursued a Master's degree in Intelligent Tutoring Systems at Nagoya University and obtained her PhD focused on Big Educational Data Analysis and Recommender Systems from the University of Southampton. Following her doctoral studies, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia, contributing to research on Open Educational Resources recommendations as part of the Horizon project X5GON. Since autumn 2018, she has been teaching a range of modules in Computer Science at the University of Warwick. Her modules include CS908 and CS430/910. Her research experience encompasses behavioral analysis modeling to gain insights into user behavior and developing recommender systems based on past behavior in online courses and content using data analytics. Sunar's current research interests include Natural Language Processing applications, Big Data, technology-enhanced learning, recommender systems, and Machine Learning. She is actively involved in the newly emerging Computer Science Education Research Group.
