Biography

Barath Raghavan received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego in 2009 and his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002. He joined the University of Southern California in 2018 and currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Viterbi School of Engineering. His work combines both industry and academic experiences and covers a wide range of projects in core Computer Science areas including networking, security, and distributed systems. In particular, Dr. Raghavan's research focuses on network protocol design, congestion control, and high-performance networking. He also engages in socially-focused research addressing issues like rural Internet access and sustainable agriculture. Over the years, he has been honored with several awards including the 2018 VMware Early Career Faculty Award and the 2011 Google Excellent Paper Award in Networks.
