Biography

Bart Verwaeren is an organizational psychologist focused on how individuals and teams pursue creativity within organizations. He collaborates with small and medium enterprises as well as large organizations to address applied questions regarding the role that creativity plays in organizations. His research involves understanding how organizations can stimulate employee creativity, with specific interests in the openness to new ideas among team leaders, senior managers, and peers. Additionally, he examines the effects of creative mentorship and accountability systems, including monitoring and performance management practices, on creativity and innovation. Bart holds a PhD in Business (applied economics) and a Master's degree in Organizational Work Psychology from Ghent University, Belgium. Before joining Aarhus University, he held research positions at Vlerick Business School in Belgium and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, and he was a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California. He teaches courses on work psychology, research methods, and creativity at both the Bachelor and Master levels.
