Dr. Bas Koene

Biography

Bas Koene is an Associate Professor at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he directs the RSM Case Development Centre. His research centers on Human Resource Management and Organization Development, emphasizing human agency, leadership processes, and institutional change. He has focused on management and organization in the context of non-standard employment, the relationship between job quality and innovation, and the role of HR in new ways of organizing work. Koene's involvement with the RSM Case Development Centre has strengthened the relevance of case studies as tools for research valorization and learning. He is an active member of professional organizations, including the American Academy of Management and the European Group for Organizational Studies, and has previously worked as a management consultant at the Business School of the University of Maastricht. His publications appear in various esteemed journals, including the Leadership Quarterly and Human Relations, and he has contributed to studies investigating contingent work relationships in the Netherlands compared to the UK.
