Biography

Benjamin Glossop is an active bassoonist residing in Ottawa, where he serves as the principal bassoonist for both the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and the Kingston Symphony Orchestra. He frequently performs as an extra musician with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and is associated with the Ontario Philharmonic Orchestra. His education includes Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music Performance from McGill University, where he specialized in Chamber Music. Since joining the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, he has also been a member of various ensembles, including the Bel Canto Wind Quintet and Ayorama Wind Quintet. Glossop plays regularly in the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival and other music groups in the Ottawa area. He co-directs the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra/Carleton Ensemble-in-Residence Program and is a dedicated teacher, working with bassoonists of all ages, including children with autism. He has released an album titled "Fever Lines," showcasing his compositions for reeds and strings, featuring the Prisme Ensemble. Outside of music, he enjoys outdoor activities like camping and volunteering with community organizations such as Poets' Pathway.
