Biography

Beverly Baker began her career teaching English as a foreign language in Canada, Japan, France, and the United Arab Emirates. She undertook her Ph.D. research on language assessment under the supervision of Dr. Carolyn Turner at McGill University. After completing her Ph.D., she took on the role of Undergraduate Program Director in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on critical approaches to language teacher development and language assessment, with particular emphasis on writing. Beverly Baker is recognized for her contributions to the field and has been awarded the Emerging Researcher Award in 2019 by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ottawa and named the Young Researcher of the Year in 2018 by the Office of the Vice President, Research at the same university. She is committed to advancing the understanding and practices of language teacher education and assessment methodologies.
