Biography

Brandon Tehanyatarí:ya’ks Martin earned his Ph.D. in American Studies, specializing in Haudenosaunee history, from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He also holds an MA in American Indian Studies from the University of Arizona and a BA from Morningside College with majors in Native American Studies and French. Dr. Martin's research interests focus on Haudenosaunee language, culture, and history. For over a decade, he has been actively involved in the Haudenosaunee language revitalization movement at the community level. He has served as a Kanyen’kéha (Mohawk language) instructor at Onkwawenna Kentyohkwa, an adult immersion program operated by Native American Community Services in Buffalo, New York. Additionally, he is the Director of Deadiwënösnye’s Gëjóhgwa, an adult immersion program in the Seneca language operated by the Seneca Nation.
