Biography

Brenda Fedoruk is a Sessional Lecturer in Flute at the University of British Columbia. She serves as the Principal Flute of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, a position she has held for over fifteen years. Fedoruk has been a long-time member of the CBC Radio Orchestra, where she played Flute Piccolo until the orchestra’s disbandment in 2008. In addition to her orchestral work, she is a busy freelance player, performing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and touring with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and National Ballet. Her performance credits include major productions such as Les Miserables, Showboat, Sunset Boulevard, Ragtime, and Phantom Opera. Fedoruk has recorded extensively, with her discography featuring CDs from the SM5000 series with the CBC Radio Orchestra, as well as albums on labels such as Artifact and Atma CentreDisc. She has released a solo CD titled 'Remember,' featuring world premiere recordings. Fedoruk is also the Conductor and Music Director of the Capilano Flute Choir, an adult amateur ensemble. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia, where she graduated first in her class, and has studied at the Konservatorium und Musikhochschule in Zurich, Switzerland.
