Brent Landau is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Th.D. from Harvard Divinity School and also holds an M.Div. from Harvard University and a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Iowa. Before joining UT in 2013, he served as an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Oklahoma and held visiting positions at Boston University and Harvard Divinity School. Landau's primary research focus is on ancient Christian apocryphal literature, particularly concerning the traditions surrounding the birth and childhood of Jesus. His dissertation featured an English translation of the 'Revelation of the Magi,' a text that allegedly represents the Magi’s own testimony regarding the coming of Christ. This work culminated in the publication of his book 'Revelation of the Magi: The Lost Tale of the Wise Men's Journey to Bethlehem' by HarperCollins in 2010, which includes an annotated translation aimed at a general audience. He is currently finishing a full critical edition of this text and is co-editor of a new anthology on Christian Apocrypha, published by Eerdmans, entitled 'New Testament Apocrypha: Noncanonical Scriptures.'
