Bryan Kennedy is a lecturer in Horn at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he graduated with honors. He spent 37 years as a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra horn section, retiring in 2020. Throughout his esteemed career, he has performed with numerous internationally recognized artists and has participated in numerous chamber music concerts across North and South America. Kennedy made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1986 and has been a recipient of multiple awards, including time prize at the Heldenleben International Horn Competition. He held a position as a professor of Horn at the University of Michigan School of Music from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, he has been a part of the DSO Brass Quintet and the Detroit Chamber Winds, and has played with organizations such as Summit Brass, Richmond Symphony, and Michigan Opera Theatre. He was also principal horn for the National Symphony in Costa Rica. In summer months, Kennedy is actively involved in music festivals, including the Grand Teton and Sunflower Music Festivals, and has presented master classes at conservatories and universities across the United States.
